About Valerie Shavers

Valerie lives and works in Memphis, TN in a home studio. She received a BFA in Studio Arts in 2012 and a MAT with a Teaching License in Visual Art K-12 in 2013, both degrees from Christian Brothers University. She currently works as an elementary art teacher full time and has worked in the arts with various organizations including Shelby Farms Park and Millington Arts Council. Her work has been displayed at GLITCH Gallery, Crosstown Arts, ArtsMemphis, and Playhouse 51. 

While her formal training is in studio arts, she has recently been making and selling jewelry at various craft fairs. She hopes to soon open an Etsy Shop to sell her jewelry, as well as finding new ways to mesh studio arts with jewelry.
